It is the job of the church to spread the love of God to the world, but sometimes we let things get in the way. Check out this video from a friend's church that attempts to simplify things a bit:
that was actually pretty cool. I think our focus on using the church as an evangelism tool partially stems from how uncomfortable it is to witness (in the very overt, preachy way). We just pinned the job on someone else. And maybe it was an okay thought - "hey we can't expect people to instantly convert, so if we get them in the door of the local church then maybe they'll warm up to it"
It clearly is relationships that make the difference. The churches role should not be entertainment but teaching and worship. The video was a simple visual of what didn't work and what can work. Obviously we are only the tools, the Holy Spirit must be the one opening eyes.

I like that the focus is on relationship as a tool for evangelism rather than someone who is articulate but has no relationship.
